Mike is a shareholder at the firm. He is a trial attorney and his practice focuses on personal injury defense and civil defense litigation. Mike has extensive litigation experience trying over 50 jury trials to verdict as well as numerous bench trials, arbitrations and mediations. Mike has tried cases in district courts throughout Nevada as well as in Reno and Las Vegas federal courts. On the appellate level, Mike has argued cases in front of both the Nevada Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mike serves on the Board of Directors for the Association of Defense Counsel (“ADC”) for Northern California and Nevada and is co-chair of the Substantive Law Section on Litigation. He also serves as a panel member and mediator with the Northern Nevada Disciplinary Board and is a Court-appointed Arbitrator for the Second Judicial District Court. Mike is a former member of the State of Nevada Standing Committee on Judicial Ethics and Election Practices. He also helped author the current Nevada Pattern Jury Instructions.
A baseball player in college, Mike was drafted by the San Francisco Giants. After determining a career in professional baseball was not meant to be, Mike obtained his degree in accounting from the University of Nevada in 1984. Upon graduation, Mike worked for the Nevada Gaming Control Board. He then attended Santa Clara University School of Law where he obtained his JD degree in 1989. Mike clerked for the Honorable Michael E. Fondi in the First Judicial District Court. He then joined a private law firm where his partners included U.S. Congressman Mark Amodei. In 2007, Mike joined what is now Glogovac & Pintar.
Mike grew up in Carson City, Nevada. He and his wife Karen Ayarbe, also an attorney, have two children, Michael and Katie. He enjoys hiking, golf, working in his yard, and attending Giants games.
